Yule Celebration 2006

The Yule 2006 celebration was the first gathering of Blackberry Circle and it was a great success.

Approximately 20 people arrived for the ritual, a few with their children. After the initial meet and greet people began to eat some of the best gumbo ever made thanks to Kris and Jon. Plenty of desserts and other sweets were provided by the celebrants and luckily nobody became diabetic.

Tiereny led the ritual which included a great reading about Uncle Walter who “Worshipped Gods” at night... In his bathrobe covered with wax! Following the ritual the fire was lit in the fire pit and the White Elephant gift exchange took place with quite a bit of bartering between the participants.

A little later in the evening the drumming started at the fire pit. After a few false starts the drummers finally hit a rhythm, the hips began to move, the dancing started and the poi were pulled out. There was some fantastic “fire dancing” with the poi, even though only light sticks were used.

Overall it seemed as though everyone had a great time.

Thanks go out to everyone who attended and for those who brought the stones. Khris brought a very nice flagstone that will make a great beginning of the path to the fire pit and the circle.

Again, thanks to everyone who showed up and here's hoping you come to many more rituals at Blackberry Circle.

Original notice (for posterity sake):

There will be an open ritual at Blackberry Circle on December 16th, 2006. Festivities will begin at 6:00 PM.

This will be the first public ritual for Blackberry Circle itself since the land was recently purchased. We would like to invite all those who wish to attend to bring that magical energy to help "initiate" the land and the Circle.

BRING A ROCK, STONE OR BRICK - In order to make Blackberry Circle even more magical we ask that folks who attend bring a rock, stone or brick with them to the ritual. These items will be placed to begin a path to the Circle or fire pit. Eventually the entire path will be covered with stones and rocks brought by those who attend the rituals.

Festivities include:

  • Public Ritual
  • Pot luck dinner (bring a favorite dish)
  • Pirate/White Elephant gift exchange (please nothing more than $5)
  • Fire pit (hopefully)
  • Drumming
  • Lots of conversation

This event will be child friendly so bring the young'uns

Non-alcoholic drinks will be provided. You are more than welcome to bring refreshments of your own liking.
